Description - Classic vintage 9ct yellow gold " Golf " style bangle also known as a " Nellie Stewart Bangle "

Crafted from 9ct  yellow gold hollow tubular form, which slips on & off over the hand.

This style of bangle was also known in the early 20th century as a Nellie Stewart bangle, named after a famous   Australian actress, singer (1885 - 20th June 1931 ) who wore a hinged bangle same style for 46 years . She wore it in all her stage appearances , personal life & representations of her, that it actually became the basis of a fashion trend.

Nellie Stewart's bangle came from twenty five gold sovereigns gifted to her by her Lover & it was his design, hers originally came into being in 1885.

For many decades after this style of  bangle were exchanged as material symbols of romantic love in courtships & they were also handed down through generations.

How they became known as a " Golf " bangle is another story that as far as I know hasn't been confirmed.

Anyway, this is a lovely bangle stamped for 9ct carat gold & tests as such.

It has an internal diameter of 62mm & the internal circumference is 19.5mm approx & the rounded bangle is 4.98mm wide.

It has a lovely weight of 10.66 grams.

A beautiful simple style that can be worn permanently, they look fabulous on their own or with other bracelets etc.

I've worn mine for over 15 years now, just love the style.
