Description - A finely executed and highly decorated set of Victorian sterling silver teaspoons, assayed in Sheffield in 1888, each bearing a full set of English Hallmarks including the crown, lion passant, the young  Queen Victoria Duty mark & the Letter V for Sheffield 1888.

This elegant & distinctive set is modelled as the Scottish thistle, emblematic of resilience & heritage.

Each spoon features a naturalistically cast stem, rising to a beautifully detailed thistle head finial, set with faceted coloured glass in rich citrine and amethyst tones, representing the flowering bloom.

Such pieces belong to the Late Victorian tradition of novelty & presentation silver, where craftsmanship, symbolism and artistic design were prioritised over purely functional tableware.

Sets of this quality were typically commissioned or purchased as refined gifts for affluent households.

Condition - Very good antique condition. Light surface wear consistent with age. 

                      The thistle finials remain crisp, with all coloured glass intact.

                       considering age etc.
