Description - Rare 18th Century French Jewelled Pocket Watch By Alexandre Patry - Circa 1790.

On offer is an exceptional Georgian era French pocket watch crafted in 18ct solid yellow gold, it carries the French Eagle impressed on the Stem & also has been XRF tested. It is signed y renowned jeweller - watchmaker Alexandre Patry Geneva.

The case features green & white enamelled leaves & dot decoration around front & back outer edges , reminiscent of edelweiss style floral motifs. There is some wear to the enamel flower detail.

The reverse is centred with a finely hand painted enamel portrait miniature of a beautiful young lady, framed by an ornately pierced  silver topped surround, set with old cut diamonds, rubies emeralds seed pearls & pink sapphires in an elegant floral composition.

There are four 1.3mm old mine cut diamonds, 2mm old cut pink sapphires, seven 1.5mm to 2mm mix cut  pale emeralds and two old cut  1mm rubies each surrounded by five 1.8mm half seed pearls.

We believe there would have been more gemstones originally but are missing this does not  effect the look etc of this rare treasure.

The dial is in enamel with black steel moon hands and black Arabic numerals , the glass is in good order.

The watch has a key wind movement with fusee chain and verge escarpment, featuring a finely pierced and engraved bridge cock and steel coqueret .

The movement is signed " Alex. Patry Genève'' & is in running order, but these early timepieces were not know for fabulous timekeeping.

Alexandre Patry was active in France during the late 18th century a period renowned for combining technical innovation with decorative refinement.

This watch exemplifies the fusion of fine horology, jewellery setting and miniature portraiture characteristic of the late Georgian era.

A rare highly decorative and historically important pocket watch suitable for collectors, investors to those seeking an exceptional statement piece.

The valuation is a reflection of the price you would expect to pay if you can find another, & the purchase price doesn't work on a percentage of the valuation as is generally expected with jewellery.
