Description - A wonderful antique bracelet, with rich deep red Pyrope Garnets, Circa 1850-1870
The bracelet is crafted in Pinchbeck, a bright brassy coloured alloy of copper & Zinc , invented by Christopher Pinchbeck a London Clockmaker often referred to as the " Peoples Gold " it was was a way less expensive option than solid gold , so jewellery became more affordable for many.
The bracelet measures 18.2cm &it is made up of fourteen rosettes descending in size from the star shaped centrepiece.
The garnets are a deep rich luscious pomegranate red, all rose cut gems that are in closed back settings.
This beautiful antique bracelet has been very well made, each rosette & the star centrepiece have solid closed in backs & are joined together with square solid links.
It closes with a push in clasp which has also been cleverly set with the gorgeous garnets so the clasp is hidden.
Unfortunately it has lost its little security chain, so I have factored this in with pricing.
There are no missing garnets, they all appear original to the piece & it is in overall very good condition.
The combination of rich deep red rose cut garnets against the brassy golden colour of the pinchbeck makes for an opulent dramatic look.
This antique bracelet is an excellent piece, ready to be worn & treasured once again.
The bracelet is 18.02cm in length, the star at the centre is 26mm x 17mm & there are fourteen rosettes & the garnet clasp.
