Description - A very beautiful Pale yellow gold antique locket, which XRF tested as having a 15ct bale & 14ct yellow gold locket, this actually has been acid tested a few years ago on an earlier valuation as the whole locket including bale being 15ct gold, but the latestest assessment states 15ct & 14ct.
The locket measures 49.5mm x 39mm without the hanger & weighs 26.07 grams, actual solid gold weight taking out frames etc is 21.12 grams so its quite a substantial piece of we believe late Victorian early Edwardian Jewelley .
The locket is hinged , both the front & back covers are convex . The front cover features an engraved star set with a half pearl measuring 4.6mm in diameter which is cream in colour & has very good lustre.
On opening the locket your will fine two chapter rings which are base metal two piece of silk style material backing & one glass cover unfortunately the other glass is missing.
The back outer cover of the locket is plain smooth gold.
The hanger / bail is large & could be worn with a variety of chains
The actual appearance of the gold in this locket is quite pale & slightly patchy in a few spots not sure why, all we know is it is solid yellow gold.
A larger style locket which will hold some very special photos & treasures, a wonderful Heirloom piece that could be passed on down through the generations.
The locket closes with a resounding click & is n lovely condition.
